Kristian Leigh Martin 7/28/1994 - 9/17 /2005
The whole Desire to make jewelry was born one day as I visited this sweet little angel in the hospital. Kristian was diagnosed with cancer and undergoing treatment when I paid her a visit. While there I noticed her making jewelry. My husband asked her to make him something. I’m sure at the time it was a kind gesture but what she created became precious to him and he still has til this day. I sat down with her and began to make jewelry with a kit that the hospital supplied to give the young patients something to take their minds off their awful treatments.
It brought a smile to her face to create and it also brought a smile to mine. The times I visited it became something we did together. I told her then that I liked it so much that I was going to go out and purchase my own kit. I never took any jewelry making classes but I was inspired by a very young teacher who didn’t know what she was leaving me with. I have been making jewelry ever since. In memory of Kristen I wanted to make this story known I thought it would inspire others to know where the idea and concept came from. Thank you Kristian Martin!
